What Is Matcha Powder
Matcha powder is a finely ground, bright green powder made from specially grown and processed green tea leaves. The fineness of powder is vital in giving the consumer the smoothest sip.
Fifteen to twenty days before harvesting tea leaves, the tea trees are shaded. About twenty days later, the fresh tea leaves are picked and processed through steam blanching, roasting in a tea-grinding oven, separating stems and leaves, removing impurities, and finishing. This tea is then called tencha. Tencha is ground into powder using stone mills, ball mills, or other similar processes; this powder is called matcha.
